Team Limerick Clean-Up (TLC) is Ireland’s largest one-day clean-up attracting close to 20,000 volunteers, who come out in force on Good Friday each year to pick up litter in their local community.
What is Team Limerick Clean-Up (TLC)?
The TLC initiative was founded in 2015 by JP McManus, Paul O’Connell and Helen O’Donnell, and is spearheaded by Limerick City and County Council.
TLC is one of the most exciting campaigns ever to hit Limerick, drawing people from all over the County to come out and do their bit to help the environment.
There has been a huge rise in the numbers taking part and, as a result, areas where the clean-up occurs are getting cleaner each year.
The event has been a huge success since it started on Good Friday, 3rd April 2015 as a massive clean-up day in Limerick City and County with over 10,000 people participating in, what was then and still is, Ireland’s largest one-day clean-up!
Due to the success of the inaugural TLC, TLC2 took place on Good Friday, 25th March 2016 where the number of volunteers grew to almost 14,000 participants.
TLC3 followed and continued the excellent work again on Good Friday, 14th April 2017 where close to 17,000 people were out on their streets to participate in the clean up.
Over 18,500 volunteers took part in TLC4 in 2018 where there was over 571 groups from all over Limerick City and Limerick County.
At TLC5, there were nearly 21,000 volunteers covering many areas all over Limerick covered for the first time; making 2019 the cleanest year of TLC in Limerick to date!
Due to Covid-19, TLC6 was 'different, but doable'. People were asked to refrain from gathering in large groups and instructed to conduct spring cleans in line with government health and safety guidelines.
This year TLC celebrates its 7th birthday, and what a journey it has been…
Join us on Good Friday, 15th April 2022 and lets continue to keep Limerick clean!
